This is a Safety Style Coupler. Instead of a Collar that you pull back to install and release the stem, it is a sleave that you turn side to side. It is the only coupler that can be used with one hand, just push the stem into the coupler and it automatically sets. To remove turn the sleave towards the 1 printed on the coupler, to release all of the pressure while still holding the stem, this way the tools and hoses cant go flying across the shop hitting everything in its path, then turn the sleave towards the 2 printed on the coupler to release the stem.
